Across harris there are numerous places to find good food and a good atmosphere.

In Tarbert there are restaurants, cafes a hotel and a couple of Pubs.


The Harris Hotel was built in 1865 and has a huge history. Here you can find the best local produce served as Al La Carte and bar meals with afternoon teas available too.


Next door to the Harris Hotel is the Harris Inn. Run by the same owners and offering  bar meals and afternoon tea, its a friendly run pub with local produce and a good selection of bar meals and drinks



In the centre of the town near the ferry terminal is the Hotel Hebrides. The boutique hotel has both a restaurant and a separate bar where there are both bar meals and restaurant dining available. The atmosphere is very relaxed and friendly in the bar and a great place to wind down.

In the centre of Tarbert there is a local chippy for take away fish and chips and a small popular cafe called First Fruits. Here its possible to get simple meals and afternoon tea and cakes with great coffee and tea. Its a very friendly place but its best to get there early for lunch as its very popular in the summer.

Further afield and travelling south from tarbert around the bays area there is the Skoon Art Cafe where they serve a great selection of lovely food all day long in the summer. Theres also a selection of Artwork by the owner. There cakes and cheese selection are a must.


On coming to the bottom of the bays a Rodel there is the Rodel Hotel set in a lovely little harbour. Once again Bar meals and restaurant meals can be had here if you are down this end of the island or perhaps looking at the famous church here.

There are various other places to eat and drink dotted around the island.


If you’re looking for supplies to eat in there are two shops in tarbert that sell most of the things you might need and a great little butchers thats famous for its black pudding.

In leverbrough there is a much larger CoOp that sells most things including a good selection of wine and beer.


If you’re brave enough nip down to the pier in Stockinish and catch the local fisherman to buy prawns and lobsters. Fresh Scallops can also be bought from various places including the garage at Ardhasaig. At Croft 36 in Northton seafood meals and produce can be bought or delivered to your door.
